Rambotics
For Ridge View Academy’s Rambotics Team the 2009 Regional Competition began with a weather challenge! Denver was hit with more than 12 inches of wet spring snow, cutting the competition to just two days instead of three. Teams from across the country assembled at the Magness Arena at Denver University.
This season was “bittersweet and special for the Rambotics team, with the passing of Community Advisory Board member Roger Allott in January. Mr. Allott had initiated FIRST robotics to Ridge View Academy and was passionate about the potential impact FIRST could have on students. With this in mind the team named their 2009 robot ‘Roger’ in Mr. Allott’s honor.
Thirteen students, the maximum number a team is allowed, made up the 2009 Rambotics Team. When another team needed an additional member, Rambotics loaned out one of their own. Student Athlete Mark ended up having to compete against his own school team! The Rambotics team finished 7th place with a 6-1 record and was awarded the Johnson & Johnson Gracious Professionalism Award, exemplifying the highest standard of sportsmanship, for the 3rd year in a row.
