RoboDoves

“RoboDoves” (Team 2528) are from Western High School, an all girl school in Baltimore, Maryland. The team may have been rookies in 2008, but they made up for lack of experience with great spirit and planning, earning them an award for exceptional rookie performance.

“The team members are all eager about science and technology, and look forward to many stellar performances in the future,” Coach Ron Karpinski commented.

Mr. Karpinski has been volunteering with robotics for 12 years. Professionally he has worked for Bethlehem Steel, Mitsubishi Materials and the School District of the City of York, PA.

What RoboDoves say about FIRST

“If you think about your future, nothing can stop you from going out to get education or to think or to solve a problem.”

Samea Shanori, member, RoboDoves Team, Baltimore, MD

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. That’s what the kids bring to this process.  We can teach them and show them everything they need to know, but with their visualization, that’s where it has to begin, and, and, that’s where it starts…. a perfect blend of art and science.”

Ron Karpinski, mentor, RoboDoves Team, Baltimore, MD

“It gave me the opportunity to explore my success in engineering.”
